Thank you -- this is a great service!

Thanks Jan.

I just put this text up at Jake's place, with credit to your fast fingers, of course. Now, give them a well deserved rest!

I'm sure I need to read this a couple more times, and I will go back and read the bishops' statement from March. But -- having read this only three times so far -- I am terribly disappointed in our bishops.

However, I thank you very much for getting the statement online so quickly. You've done amazing service to our church, Jan.

In light of the nearly insurmountable pressure of the primates excessive demands, and complete misunderstanding of the nature of authority in the American church, this statement is a workable product that doesn't satisfy any single faction, yet has its own kind of integrity. It, along with the Standing Committee's statement will suffice. May it please God to preserve the Anglican communion!

Somebody please explain to me the "nuance" in the bishops' statement. As far as I can tell, this is what they said this evening:

* You queers are full members of the body of Christ
* You queers don't deserve to have your relationships blessed (although we reserve the right to bless boats and pets and nuclear submarines), nor do you deserve to be bishops.

Explain that to me, please. I am way beyond heart-broken. Right now, I hate this church!
