Courts to Decide Fate of Savannah Church

SAVANNAH, GA--Christ Church in Savannah has stood tall on Bull Street since 1773. It's survived a war and a fire, but now has an even larger battle to face: a court battle.
Father James Parker, spokesperson for the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia said, "In essence what's it's asking the court to do is to return the property of Christ Church downtown and the property associated with it, to return that to the Episcopal Church."
Wednesday the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia filed a petition in Chatham Superior Court asking a judge to force Christ Church's congregation out of the building.
It’s all here …and...well...it sounds as though what they're asking is for a judge to allow Christ Church's congregation into their building...and to ask the erstwhile "Anglican" group to find their own space elsewhere.
As I said previously, when a group of people deliberately and consciously leave the Episcopal Church, that's it-they've left, period! They made that decision on their own and nobody coerced them into doing anything. Therefore, they have NO claim on any church property and are 100% responsible for finding new worship space entirely on their own with no assistance from anybody. Why should the church provide space to people who have renounced their membership and aligned themselves with some overseas Anglican group? (In Uganda yet?) Wha----? Who cares?
